Forbes: Perfect Products For Glamping 2020
Perfect Products For Glamping 2020
I am writing this while sitting in a tent. In my backyard. Because… 2020….
Pretty sure no one’s summer is looking as they expected. But I can say with certainty that being outside is really important, and uplifting. Whether you are turning your backyard into a vacation oasis, or visiting a campground, these products will help you feel pampered in the great outdoors. I’ve been covering glamping products for a while.
Shelter: To me, glamping usually involves moving into a lovely canvas structure that someone else has already assembled. But this year, you might feel safer bringing your own. I’m a big fan of the Kelty Tall Boy Six Person, whether you are headed on a road trip or just setting up a remote workstation in the backyard.
The important thing to remember about tents is the number rating means shelter for people in sleeping bags, shoulder-to-shoulder on sleep pads. Not much room for gear, and no big plush inflatable mattresses. So a six-person tent will shelter six people, but not in a glamorous way. This tent, which I set up in under 15 minutes with my husband (we are both pretty experienced – it’s easy, but I’d say allot a half hour if this is your first time setting up a tent), would be luxurious for two people with gear, or cozy but workable for my family of four. I like the ceiling height — it makes it less claustrophobic if you have to spend a rainy day inside. My husband is 6 foot 5 inches tall and even he felt pretty comfortable standing up in the center. We liked the organizational pockets stitched into the sides, and at about 14 pounds, it’s really light to carry, especially for its size. It’s sold out at Kelty right now, but $230 at various camping retailers.
