OUR PICK: Sawyer Mini Water Filter

$16 $20 Save $4

  • Buy from Amazon

Given the importance of water in an emergency, we believe it’s important to have a way to filter found water, and our pick for the best personal water filter is the Sawyer Mini. Our first deal all year, the Sawyer mini filters out bacteria and protozoa and can be used directly with the water source or attached to a bottle. In addition, its small size and low maintenance means you can stuff it away and not have to worry about frequently needing to change filters or cartridges. Whether you're preparing a survival kit or are traveling to a place where you may need filtered water, now is a great time to save on this personal filter.

ALSO GREAT: Sawyer Products Premium Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent (12-Ounce, 2-Pack)

$13 $20 Save $7

  • Buy from Amazon (2-Pack)

Great for clothing and gear (but not skin), Sawyer Products’ permethrin repellent is effective at repelling ticks and mosquitoes. Like other permethrin sprays, each application provides about six washings (or six weeks, whichever comes first) of protection. Each 12-ounce size bottle should be enough to treat two entire outfits, though we recommend that you combine this product with other on-skin repellents for maximum protection. While not the best deal we've ever seen, this is still a solid deal on a great clothing and gear protector, especially with the fall season ramping up.

Mosquitos are nasty creatures. They bite, they transmit terrible diseases to people and pets, and from what I read, they have absolutely no redeeming value in the ecosystem.
