Hometown: Bridgeville, Pennsylvania
Weekend explorer, dreaming of adventuring full time. Backpacker, sunset chaser, State highpointer, aspiring photographer, and dog dad.
I got into backpacking a few years ago, and since then I haven’t looked back. I’ve explored and hiked a ton of locations around the tri-state area, and plan on exploring the rest of the world one day. Some of my best memories have come from my backpacking trips. I’ve met a lot of great people and have developed some amazing friendships through backpacking/hiking.
While exploring, I wanted a way to show friends and family some of the cool sights, so I started to take pictures on my cell phone. This eventually led to me purchasing my first DSLR and through some fun online courses, photography friends, and good old internet googling, I’ve honed my photography skills and have really begun to find my niche in the photography community.
Since I was already taking pictures of my adventures and bragging to co-workers at work about my fun trips, I decided it would be best to write a blog. Since then, I have been writing about my adventures. I try to keep it lighthearted with just a pinch of sarcasm.
Besides photography and backpacking, my other hobbies include gaming, music, hockey, and hanging out with my lovely girlfriend, Lauren (she made me say that).
I think the best part about me would be that I’m just starting out as a photographer, so my adventure has just begun.
Favorite Sawyer Product and Why:
This one is a toss up for me. It’s really hard to pick between the Sawyer Squeeze and the Permethrin Premium Clothing Insect Repellent. I use both any time I go hiking. My Sawyer Squeeze has been with me for a while, and I love it. I don’t know what I would do while backpacking if I didn’t have it. I’ve converted a few friends to the Squeeze just based on how quick and easy it is.
The same can be said for the Permethrin though. PA is a rough place for ticks, and when I don’t use my Permethrin spray, I’m always coming home covered in ticks. Nobody wants that. But since I started using Permethrin, I haven’t found a single tick on myself, so I’d say that’s a win in my book.
Favorite Outdoor Location:
Grayson Highlands and Mt. Rogers National Recreation area. I had the pleasure to spend two nights there and it was the most beautiful place i’ve been to. I got to summit Rogers and add it to my list of high points. I also got to meet some through hikers, which really sparked my interest in through hiking and the AT in general. It’s one of the most peaceful places, and I will be back very soon.
One Piece of Advice or Something You've Learned Spending So Much Time Outdoors:
Create your own adventure. Just go out and enjoy nature and don’t let anyone tell you the right or wrong way to do it. You’ll find the beauty in it in your own way.
