During the off season, Erin gives many presentations on long distance hiking to full capacity crowds. In a relatively short amount of time, Erin has racked up many trails (also the John Muir Trail, West Coast Trail, and Long Trail) and miles having hiked well over 8,000mi since discovering long distance backpacking in 2011. Erin plans to continue to bring her followers along on her annual long distance hiking adventures for many years to come, seeking trails that both challenge and inspire.
Favorite Sawyer Product and Why:
Sawyer Mini: “It’s light, simple, and gets the job done. Having a product I can trust and rely on for safe drinking water is essential and I never have a doubt when I carry a Sawyer filter. It amazes me how something so light and small can do so much!”
Favorite Outdoor Location:
“It changes all the time, but I can say that Glacier National Park had a grandness to it that I definitely want to return to.”
One Piece of Advice or Something You’ve Learned Spending So Much Time Outdoors:
“A lot of backpacking can seem intimidating at first. I’ve found that if I can at least walk up to something and see it for myself, it’s never as daunting as I’ve built it up to be in my head. That same lesson has carried over for me in daily life challenges and fears. I now seek challenges in other aspects of life and see them as an opportunity for growth. We’re all on thru hikes in one way or another and it’s the challenges along the way that make the rewards that much sweeter!”
